After years of dealing with misalignment, Invisalign is the perfect solution that you’ve been looking for. Even though you are eager to attend your consultation and learn how you can watch your smile transform, you may be feeling unprepared. By closely following the instructions of your dentist, you will see beautiful results soon enough. However, there are some steps that you may want to take to prepare for your upcoming orthodontic treatment. Continue reading to find out what they are.

#1: Limit Snacking

This is often the most difficult part of adjusting to Invisalign. If you are someone who likes to indulge in snacks throughout the day, you should know that this isn’t the best idea when you have Invisalign. Since you need to take your aligners out every time you eat and thoroughly brush before putting them back in, too many snacks can become impractical. Try to fill up on a few meals throughout the day instead. Choose nutrient-dense foods with healthy fats, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates so that you don’t get hungry. By gradually limiting snacks now, it will be easier when you get Invisalign.

#2: Brush After Each Meal

Once you start your Invisalign treatment, it will be necessary for you to brush your teeth after each meal. This helps to prevent food from getting stuck in your trays and wreaking havoc on your teeth. You might as well get started with this step early so you will already be in the habit when you get your aligners. It will also help you to navigate uncertain territories, like what to do if you are at a restaurant or having lunch at work. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste that contains fluoride.

#3: Put a Dental Kit Together

You will be needing to brush more often to keep your smile and aligners clean, so it’s a good idea to put together a dental kit that you can take with you. Pick out a travel-sized toothbrush, toothpaste, and pre-threaded floss. A mini-sized mouthwash is also an excellent addition.

#4: Make a Financial Plan

When you are committing to orthodontic treatment, you’re investing in your smile. To make the experience as stress-free as possible, you will need to figure out the financial aspects ahead of time. Ask your dental team about your dental insurance benefits and other financial options that are available to you. This way, you can put together a plan that fits into your budget.

You want to get Invisalign, so it’s the perfect time to start preparing. By making these changes in your everyday routine, you can get a head start when adjusting to your treatment!
